Hello! I am Janiece Gilbert, a fitness and nutrition coach, Occupational Therapist, and natural bodybuilding pro, who has a passion for all things training, and being active.
I have always been an active person. As a softball player and competitive figure skater in my youth, I found value in gym training to support my sports. My love of the gym and an active lifestyle, led me to earn my bachelor’s degree in exercise science, and human performance and fitness, where I found a love of helping others to reach their health and fitness goals. After this, I would earn my masters degree in occupational therapy, where I could help others find independence, and be able to participate in activities that fulfilled them through modifications and adaptive strategies.
I have always loved a good challenge. I find that challenging myself allows me to experience new growth and new perspectives. Throughout life I have been a runner, participating in several races and half marathons. I have been a cyclist, riding long distances and pushing my levels of endurance. This, of course, led to competing in several triathlons. Each of these sports has taught me I can push myself even more, and I have become stronger for it.
After an unexpected back surgery, and lengthy rehab, I was forced to stop cycling and running. Despite my efforts to get back to it, I was forced to find other ways to push myself. This is where I found bodybuilding and a love of the competitive natural bodybuilding stage. In November 2020 I earned my natural bodybuilding figure pro card.
In April of 2021 I began providing online fitness and nutrition coaching and personal training services to those who wish to lose weight, improve their fitness level or physique, or improve their level of health and wellness. I have worked with clients of all ages, different backgrounds and with many unique goals.
I want to inspire any person out there who struggles with the belief that they can reach their goals.
I love speaking to people who are new to fitness. I also enjoy educating people on the simple changes they can make to realize their goals, and how they can incorporate balance into their diet so as not to feel restricted, but maintain a healthy lifestyle and be successful in reaching their goals. All it takes is a commitment to yourself, consistency, and prioritizing your health. I find myself generally happy and fulfilled when I can share tips with people they can use to realize a healthy lifestyle is not difficult to achieve, or maintain. A sustainable lifestyle change IS possible.
If you are seeking out a coach, it’s important to know their background.
I started my journey in healthcare, as both a chiropractic technologist and licensed massage therapist for almost ten years. During my time working in the chiropractic field, I discovered a love of therapy, learning more about the occupational therapy profession, helping others maintain their independence. This led me to obtaining my bachelor’s degree in exercise science, as well as human performance and fitness, and eventually my masters degree in occupational therapy in 2009. Throughout my career as an OT, I have encountered patients in all walks of life. Working in both inpatient rehab and acute care has provided me experience in working with several diagnoses and disabilities, most notably those with spinal cord injury and amputees. I have encountered patients living various lifestyles, and have observed what healthy and unhealthy behaviors can do to a body and overall quality of life…and because I have a love of learning and constant growth, I also discovered my analytical side, obtaining my masters degree in health informatics in 2019.
Throughout my college years and to the present, fitness and nutrition has always played a huge role in my life, both personally and professionally.
