Chicken Breakfast Sausage
There are several benefits to making your own chicken breakfast sausage including cleaner ingredients and affordability, and this sweet and savory recipe can be easily used for meal prep!
I keep mine pretty simple and just prepare it ground, but you can also prepare this recipe in patty form, storing them in an airtight container, to be used at a later time.
Ingredients:
1 Lb Ground Chicken
Note: Using a higher fat percentage ground chicken, with some dark meat, yields a more moist result. However, if you are looking for a more lean option, you can always grind your own meat from chicken breasts using a Kitchen Aid metal grinder attachment
2 Tsp Garlic Powder
1 Tsp Dried Rosemary
½ Tsp Dried Thyme
¾ Tsp Himalayan Pink Salt
¼ Tsp Fresh Ground Black Pepper
1 Tbsp Pure Maple Syrup
Instructions for Ground Breakfast Sausage:
Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
Combine the garlic powder, dried rosemary, dried thyme, himalayan pink salt and fresh ground black pepper in a small bowl.
Add ground chicken to preheated skillet, breaking it up evenly with a spatula.
Sprinkle your seasoning mixture over the chicken.
Drizzle the pure maple syrup over the chicken and combine the mixture well.
Once the chicken has browned, remove from heat.
Let cool and measure out for meal prep, or store in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
Instructions for Breakfast Sausage Patties:
In a medium-sized bowl, combine all ingredients thoroughly.
Cover and place in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. This will make the mixture easier to handle when preparing your patties.
Preheat a skillet over medium to medium-high heat.
Form mixture into balls and place in preheated skillet.
Flatten each ball into a patty.
Cook approximately 3-4 minutes per side, until browned.
